On 9 and 10 February, President Melissa Pang, Vice-President Amirali Nasir and Constitutional Affairs and Human Rights Committee Member Mark Daly attended the 1st LAWASIA Human Rights Conference in New Delhi, India on behalf of the Law Society.
During the Conference, Ms Pang discussed the nature of protection granted to privacy rights by Hong Kong laws with the participants, while Mr Nasir and Mr Daly shared their views on the independence and threats of the human rights lawyers, and cross-border migration respectively to the participants. This was a valuable opportunity for participants to exchange insights and expertise on topics of significant importance to the legal profession.
President Melissa Pang shared the Hong Kong experience in protection granted to privacy rights during her session “New Technologies, Privacy and Mass Surveillance: Will Human Rights Survive?”.
Vice-President Amirali Nasir shared his insight on the topic “Human Rights Lawyers: Independence and Threats” with the conference participants.
Mr Mark Daly explained the framework in Hong Kong for refugees in the session “Conflicts and Cross-Border Migrations”.
