Led by Justice GONG Jiali, President of the Guangdong High People’s Court, the delegation of the Guangdong High People’s Court visited the School of Law and CJER, City University of Hong Kong on 22nd February 2019. The other members of the delegation include: Senior Judge ZHONG Jianping, Executive Vice President of the Guangdong High People’s Court, Mr. DENG Juliang, Deputy Director of the General Office of Guangdong High People’s Court, and Judge SI Yanli, Director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affair Office, the Supreme People’s Court of the PRC.
The delegation held a meeting with the representatives of CityU. Participants from CityU include: Prof. LU Jian, Vice-President of the City University of Hong Kong, Ms. Helen LAM, Acting Director of Global Engagement Office of CityU, Prof. LIN Feng, Associate Dean of School of Law and Director of Centre for Judicial Education and Research, Dr. DING Chunyan, Assistant Dean and Associate Professor of School of Law, and Dr. HE Tianxiang, Assistant Professor of School of Law.
Prof. Lu and Prof. Lin introduced to the delegation the City University of Hong Kong, the School of Law and the Centre for Judicial Education and Research. Justice Gong Jiali expressed Guangdong High People’s Court’s intention of enhancing collaboration with Hong Kong and providing good legal service for the Greater Bay Area under the principle of “one country, two systems”. He also suggested that the City University of Hong Kong sign a strategic collaboration agreement with the Guangdong High People’s Court, to promote research and advance practices concerning how like cases can be decided alike, cross-border insolvency, judicial support of the Greater Bay Area, and to further deepen the cooperation in the fields of judge incubation and student internship. The participants conducted productive discussion on the relevant issues.
At the end of the meeting, Justice Gong and Prof. Lu exchanged souvenirs. The delegation then visited the Law Library and CityU campus with the company of Prof. Lin.
