Greater China Legal History Seminar on “Confucianism and Chinese Law, Past and Present” by Professor Norman Ho & Upcoming CPD Seminar on 26 October 2018

The CPD seminar “Confucianism and Chinese Law, Past and Present” delivered by Professor Normal Ho of Peking University School of Transnational Law at the CUHK Graduate Law Centre on 7 September 2018 attracted more than one hundred legal practitioners, academics, students and history buffs to attend. In the seminar, Professor Ho introduced the traditional Confucian views on law and its impact on China’s legal tradition from ancient times to modern day. The exploration of Confucian legal thought and its development provided a better basis for understanding Chinese contemporary approaches to law. He closed with the emphasis on the continuity of the Confucian norms in China’s legal reforms today, which inspired an active Q&A session at the end.
