The Faculty of Law of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (“CUHK Law”) held a guest lecture entitled “Back to Basics?” which was delivered by the Right Honourable Lord Reed, Justice of The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, at its Graduate Law Centre on 22 March 2018.
The lecture drew a full house of participants including academics, legal practitioners, students and members of the public to attend. Encompassing various fundamental issues including the essence of law and the role of court in this ever-changing society, the lecture highlighted the recent developments in areas of law such as tort and contract and discussed the ensuing border implications.
The lecture by Lord Reed provoked the rethink of one basic but captivating question – the essence of law.
