The Hong Kong Academy of Law organised 60 courses in October attended by approximately 3,000 participants.
One of the 60 courses was “Law Practice in the Bitcoin Era” held on 24 October. The seminar briefed practitioners on the key concepts behind the terminology and jargons of bitcoin, Cryptocurrency and Blockchain and their applications in real-life transactions. It also discussed the regulatory issues associated with the technology developments, the opportunities and risks that technologies may bring to law firms and lawyers. The speaker was Ms. Virginia Tam, Partner of K&L Gates. The seminar attracted 74 participants.
Another course was “Regulation of Drones” held on 25 October.
The seminar provided an overview of the issues and risks associated with the use of drones. It also discussed the existing legal framework and regulations, and the proposed legislation on the use of drones in Hong Kong. Mr. Victor Chan, Senior Associate of Stephenson Harwood, was the speaker of the seminar. The seminar attracted 70 participants.
