At the invitation of the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the HKSAR Government, President Melissa Pang joined the Hong Kong Business and Professional Delegation to Georgia and Hungary together with more than 30 head delegates from various businesses and professional sectors as well as representatives of start-ups from 18 to 23 March to explore and capitalise on the opportunities in these two countries arising from the Belt and Road Initiative.
The seminar cum networking dinner titled “Hong Kong IN: Exploring New Business Opportunities” jointly organised by the HKSAR Government and HKTDC in Tbilisi, Georgia on 18 March was one of the highlights of the trip. Ms Pang was invited to be one of the speakers to share with the delegates the core competencies of Hong Kong legal services and how Hong Kong legal professionals can assist the Georgian enterprises in their business investments.
Riding on this opportunity, Ms Pang also met with the representatives of the Georgian Bar Association and Hungarian Bar Association to renew friendship and discuss the possibility of future collaboration.
The Law Society will continue our effort in exploring ways to foster collaboration with lawyers associations around the world in order to maximise the opportunities arising from the Belt and Road Initiative for our members.
President promoted the Hong Kong legal system and legal services to the local delegates during the trip.
Apart from meetings with relevant government of cials, local business leaders and chambers of commerce, visits to local development projects for business exchanges and to receive updates on the current economic and investment environments of the two countries were also arranged.
