IHLC: Company Visit to Lee Kum Kee and Sweat & Glory panel discussion on supply chain industry

The In-House Lawyers Committee (“IHLC”) organised two events in September.

On 14 September, around 20 members comprising of in-house lawyers and private practitioners joined a company visit to the production plant of Lee Kum Kee (Xin Hui) Food Co., Ltd. (“LKK”) in Xin Hui.

Before the guided tour around the LKK campus, members joined a lunch gathering with the legal team of LKK. The first stop of the campus tour was the Constant Entrepreneurship Building, which is also known as the “LKK Museum”, where the history and the development of the century-old enterprise were showcased. Participants then visited the production plant and packaging plant to learn about the production process of soy sauce and compound sauces. The tour ended with a sharing session led by the legal team of LKK introducing their daily operation and legal challenges in operating a food manufacturing business. IHLC was very thankful for the warm hospitality of LKK’s legal team which consisted of its representatives based in Guangdong and Xin Hui as well as its entire Hong Kong in-house legal team overseeing the sauce production business. Special thanks also go to Mr. Billy Ng for leading the Law Society group in this company visit.

The Sweat & Glory panel discussion scheduled to be held on 18 September was not affected by the aftermath of super storm Mangkhut. Around 40 members, mainly comprising in-house members from a variety of background, joined the seminar with the topic “The ‘Sweat & Glory Express’– Responding to Change – Legal and Technology Trend in Supply Chain Management”. Speakers included Mr. Grand Chan, General Counsel of Guardforce, Mr. Klein Au, Head of EF Locker, and Mr. Stephen Leung, Senior Vice President, Logistics, Cross Border Operation of Lazada. The panel discussion was moderated by Ms. Cerin Yip, Senior Legal Counsel of Alibaba Group. IHLC would like to express its heartfelt thanks to the panelists who shared with us on topics covering various aspects related to the supply chain, transportation and logistics industry from both the legal and business perspectives.
