Findings and Order

On 12 May 2018, the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (“Tribunal”) heard the application of the Law Society (“Applicant”) in the absence of Ms. Lam Yuk Ming Anita (“Respondent”). On 27 July 2018, the Tribunal found that the Complaint had been proved as follows:-
The Respondent committed disgraceful, dishonourable and discreditable conduct within the meaning of Section 2(2) of the LPO. In District Court Criminal Case No.484 of 2016, the Respondent
was convicted of two counts of theft, contrary to Section 9 of the Theft Ordinance (Cap.210) and was sentenced to imprisonment
for 30 months for each of the 2 charges, to run concurrently. The Respondent committed the offences while she was employed as a clerk in a solicitor’s rm.
The Tribunal ordered that
- The Respondent be prohibited from employment by any solicitor or rm or any foreign lawyer or foreign law rm in Hong Kong for 25 years from the date after the lapse of appeal time limit or if the Respondent appeals against the decision of the Tribunal, after the determination or abandonment of such appeal; and
- The Respondent to pay xed costs of the Applicant, the Prosecutor and the Clerk to the Tribunal as per the gross sum assessment of the Tribunal.
