The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (the “Tribunal”) found the following complaint against the Respondent proved:
The Respondent, an employee of Messrs. K. Y. Lo & Co. at the material time, committed disgraceful, dishonourable and discreditable conduct within the meaning of s. 2(2) of the LPO, in that he was convicted of two counts of theft, contrary to s. 9 of the Theft Ordinance (Cap. 210) in the District Court Criminal Case No. 1082 of 2011. The Respondent was sentenced to imprisonment for 21 months.
The Tribunal ordered that:
- the Respondent be prohibited from employment by solicitors firms in Hong Kong for 20 years; and
- the Respondent pay The Law Society’s costs and the Clerk’s costs on a party and party basis, summarily assessed at the respective sums of HK$80,000 and HK$16,000.
