In order to strengthen the cooperation within the legal services industry in the Greater Bay Area, the Law Society and the lawyers associations in the Greater Bay Area established a joint-meeting system in December 2018 to be chaired by the participating associations on a rotational basis. The Law Society held the second joint meeting on 11 May in Hong Kong and invited over 30 legal practitioners from the area to attend the meeting. Representatives of the Law Society included President Melissa Pang, Vice President and Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee CM Chan, Immediate Past President and Chairman of the Greater Bay Area Working Group Thomas So, as well as the Vice Chairman and members of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee. Attendees shared the latest industry updates in their cities and exchanged views on achieving maximum synergy through cooperation, as well as ways to enhance the level of practice in the region through training and internship programs. The joint meeting provides an effective platform for understanding the latest developments of the legal community in the Greater Bay Area, and offers insights for positioning Hong Kong’s legal profession in the long term.
