Following the success of the first seminar on NGOs corporate governance held in April, the Pro Bono Committee (“PBC”) of the Law Society jointly organised a seminar titled “Employment Related Responsibilities of NGO Boards” with the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (“HKCSS”) on 31 August.
The PBC was pleased to have Mr. Walter Lee, Chairman of the Employment Law Committee, to serve as the speaker who highlighted the employment related issues that NGO board members should be aware of from a legal point of view, e.g. role of board members in human resources matters. Mr. Lee also made suggestions to NGO Boards on what proactive measures should be adopted in order to protect the directors from potential risks and liabilities arising from employment and labour disputes. The seminar was well attended by 76 NGO representatives.
