Showcase in Badminton

The second half of 2016 has been exciting and fruitful for the Law Society Badminton Team. On 30 July 2016, our Team participated in the 2nd Challenge Cup organised by at Smithfield Road Sports Centre and competed in the Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Mix Doubles. Having rigorously competed in 11 matches against teams from the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government, COSCO and, our Team was proudly awarded the champion of the year.

On 12 and 19 November 2016, our Team members participated in Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles in the Invitational Sports Tournament organised by the Chinese Manufacturers’ Association. Despite the fact that our female players narrowly lost to those from the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants in the tiebreaker, our male players outperformed all their opponents to be placed first in the Tournament.

Apart from competing in formal tournaments, our Team has also actively engaged in friendly matches with other teams for fun and bonding. On 3 December 2016, we participated in the 8th Shenzhen-Hong Kong Lawyers Badminton Cup when the Shenzhen lawyers visited Hong Kong. With the home-court advantage, we managed to defeat our counterpart by 8:3 in 11 games. We must admit that we have learned from our opponents and enhanced our badminton skills and performance as a whole.

Our Team is actively practising for the Recreation and Sports Club for Hong Kong Professional Bodies Badminton Tournament to be held later this year.
