Named after the Honourable Sir TL Yang, former Chief Justice of Hong Kong, the Sir TL Yang Society of CUHK Law organises a variety of events and activities to assist students in their academic and professional development. This year, the Society’s annual High Table Dinner for undergraduate law students was held at the Hong Kong Jockey Club on 17 May 2018 with around 200 students, academic staff, Distinguished Professional Mentors (DPMs) and legal luminaries participated to celebrate with students completing their first year of study and to bid farewell to the graduating class. During the event, year one students were also introduced to meet their DPMs.
The evening began with a welcome address by CUHK Law Dean Professor Christopher Gane, followed by the presentation of awards and prizes including Dean’s List and the Wei Lun Foundation Scholarship to students with academic excellence. It was kept at a lively pace by student emcees Cherish Fu and Kevin Bae, who took the opportunity and represented the Faculty to thank all donors, Sir TL Yang, DPMs (including those who will soon retire from the DPM programme) and distinguished guests for joining the event and for their continued support, encouragement and guidance to the Society and the students over the years.
