The Hong Kong Trade Development Council's “Think Asia, Think Hong Kong” was held on 21 September in London, UK. Business leaders and professionals from the Mainland and Hong Kong took the opportunity to share their visions of Sino-UK partnership, as well as the challenges and opportunities of managing investment portfolios. On behalf of the Law Society, Vice President Amirali Nasir spoke at one of the thematic sessions entitled “UK-Sino Investment Partnerships in Innovation and Technologies”. This session focused on the latest trends and prospects of innovation and technology related opportunities between China and the UK.
During the event, the Law Society also set up an on-site consultation booth to promote the work of the Law Society and the Hong Kong legal services industry as a whole. In addition, the Law Society hosted a breakfast session entitled “Trade and Investment Opportunities between Hong Kong and London” on 22 September to promote Hong Kong as the perfect place and partner for overseas companies that are keen on exploring new business opportunities in Asia, particularly Mainland China.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, the Law Society also co-organised a business and legal conference entitled “Hungary and Hong Kong towards the Belt and Road Initiative: Opportunities for Hungarian business and lawyers. Legal and practical issues” with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, Berlin and Hungarian Bar Association in Budapest, Hungary on 19 September. Vice President Amirali Nasir was invited to speak on the topics “One Country, Two Systems: legal business regulations in China” at the conference.

The Law Society’s breakfast session was well-attended by around 70 local delegates.
