The Young Solicitors’ Group (“YSG”) organised the third CONNECTED event of the year on 16 September. A total of 44 mentors and young members joined the meaningful educational programme.

The event started with a mentors’ sharing session in which Council Members CM Chan, Serina Chan and Law Week 2017 Organising Committee Chairlady Nancy Leung shared their experiences and thoughts on pro bono work and community service. Members were then joined by around 30 primary school students from the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. Split up into small groups, members went through the English book “We Are All Born Free: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Pictures” with the students, and shared with them fundamental legal principles such as equality and fairness. The group then joined an interactive and informative guided tour provided by the Legislative Council Secretariat. Participants enjoyed learning more about the history, role and functions of the Hong Kong legislature.

By way of background, “CONNECTED” is a mentorship and buddy programme first launched in early 2011 to provide a platform for newly admitted members to meet with more senior members of the profession in developing a professional supporting network. YSG holds a number of CONNECTED events throughout the year to encourage participants to regularly communicate with their mentors.

The CONNECTED 2017 closing event will be held on 9 December. Please join us and have a fun-filled beachside BBQ party together with your CONNECTED groupmates!
