Dr. Julien Chaisse is Professor at the City University of Hong Kong, School of Law. He is an award-winning scholar of international law with a focus on the regulation and development of economic globalization. He has published numerous well-regarded and widely cited books and articles, and his scholarship has been cited by international courts/tribunals, as well as U.S. Courts. As a leading scholar in the field of international economic law, Dr. Chaisse sits on the editorial board of several high-impact international journals. Dr. Chaisse is frequently invited to lecture at many academic institutions and leading universities around the world, including Columbia University (U.S.), Tsinghua University (China), Tokyo University (Japan), Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (Malaysia), University of Aix-Marseille (France), University of Oxford (U.K.), and Melbourne University (Australia).
In addition to his professorship, Dr. Chaisse is a well-experienced arbitrator and a sought-after consultant/expert to international organizations, governments, law firms, and private investors. Dr. Chaisse also is very active in community and professional activities locally and internationally. In Hong Kong, he serves as Member of the Hong Kong’s Government Board of Review (Inland Revenue Ordinance), co-founder of the Internet Intellectual Property Institute (IIPI), Director of the Dot Trademark Policy Committee (DTPC), and Advisory Board Member, Academy of International Dispute Resolution & Professional Negotiation (AIDRN). Dr. Chaisse is also member of some of the world's foremost organizations, including the World Economic Forum (“Global Future Council on International Trade and Investment” and “Tax and Globalization Working Group”) and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) (Working Group on gTLDs' rights protection mechanisms review and the Accountability and Transparency Review program). Dr. Chaisse is also an advisor & partner to the United Nations ARTNET on FDI, member of the Academic Forum on ISDS, and Advisory board member of the Asian Academy of International Law (AAIL).
