Success of CUHK LAW Students

Grant & Scholarship

Congratulations to the following CUHK LAW PhD students on their recent success:

Sumit SONKAR received the Eurasia-Pacific Uninet Ernst Mach Grant for PhD Students (2020-2021). The grant will allow him to pursue part of his research studies at the interdisciplinary Research Centre “Religion and Transformation in Contemporary Society” of the University of Vienna, Austria.

Sumit is working on his thesis entitled “Progressive Constitutionalism in India: Examining Women’s Right to Access Hindu Temples and its Societal Harmonization” under the supervision of Professors Surabhi Chopra and Rehan Abeyratne.

Can EKEN received the Max Planck Luxembourg PhD Scholarships 2021. The scholarship will allow him to spend two months as an in-resident scholar at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for Procedural Law in November and December 2021.

Can is working on his thesis entitled “Rethinking Third-Party Funding in Investment Arbitration: Towards a New Procedural Paradigm” under the supervision of Professors Bryan Druzin and Fernando Dias Simoes.
